Okay, Traci tweaked the header for me . . . again . . . to include the leather bound journal, a gift from a very dear friend of mine.
She experimented with a few options . . .
The second header incorporates a picture I staged at home with the secretary, some old books, a quill and ink pot, and the leather bound journal. I love it, but . . .
The third header incorporated the original idea and included the journal. At this point, I'm going with header #3.
What do you think? 1, 2, or 3?

I vote 3!
From an artistic point of view, I still prefer #1. But I can appreciate that the personality of a blog needs a touch of what is meaningful to the blogger, so having the journal included is a nice idea. #2 adds a nice bit of colour, especially if that writing desk is meaningful to you. I'd like #3 except that it's too symmetrical for my taste, especially as it seems divided into thirds now. Maybe if the journal was angled instead of set square to the page, or it was larger... more in proportion to the quill... or if there was some overlap so the items didn't seem unrelated....
Ah, what do I know? If it pleases you that's all that matters, and, truly, they're all nice. :)
Scott...I can resize #2!!
I love all three, but #3 feels warmer, more inviting.
