Friday Update

So, this week has been about not one, but two project: Book II in my cozy series and the fleshing out of a fantasy idea.

Normally, I'm a one project at a time kinda guy! Focus! Focus! Focus! It's how I work.

Okay, there was that point earlier this year when I was working on three projects at once, but only because I couldn't decide which I wanted to work on the most, and once I figured that out, I set the other two projects aside! Whew!

So, I've been alternating, since this past Sunday, between Book II and New Idea.

For the New Idea, I just wanted to get down the basics: premise and main characters. I did that! Woo-hoo!

Then, for whatever reason, I began to write more and more. I'm 6,000 words into the project. I'm at the 20,000 point on Book II.

I'm also probably at the point where I'll set the New Idea aside . . . well, after whatever I complete today. Sometimes, I just need to work through the initial rush of the new idea so I can then shift my focus back to where it needs to be . . . on Book II!

How about you? What are you working on right now?

6,000 words since Sunday on a secondary project is a great start Scott. Usually I have two projects on the go; in case I get stuck or fatigued on one, then I can move to the other and back again. Right now I'm finishing up my first novel aimed for publication, and... I don't know how to describe it. It started life as a speculative social satire, but now its just weird. I have no idea how I'll query it, but I'm pretty happy with it. My new novel is a slightly more grounded story about people and the way they interconnect... that's coming along faily well. Have a good weekend.

Sadly, I ground to a halt on my WIP at the outline phase. It's done, but I just haven't had time to WRITE anything. :( Maybe next week.

As I began reading your post, I thought, "wasn't it Scott who had several projects going on at once not too long ago?"

Then I saw your admission. Just so's you know I keep tabs on you. :)

Great that everything is coming along for you. I found a publisher that would be right, and I mean RIGHT for Margarita Nights, but I lost it. I cleaned my office. And lost a lot of things. I figure it's in my NEW file cabinet the hubby brought to me. (Hmmm, ya think that was a hint and not really a gift?)

I'll find it though.

I'm working on my new story. I've rewritten that first chapter a gazillion times. I always have to have a workable (in every way) first chapter before I can really get going. I'VE GOT IT, Watson. hehe
